ONE of the support acts for the We Are Scientists gig on August 21st is hoping to hitch a lift down to the Reading Festival with them.
The Brays, who open for the American alt-rock band at The Cresset, on Thursday, August 21st, revealed how they had to change their plans when they heard they were on the bill.

We Are Scientists are using the Bretton venue as a warm-up for their appearances at this year's Reading and Leeds festivals.

And brothers Matt and Eddie Seddon, from The Brays, said they had already bought festival tickets before they knew they were playing in support.

Matt said: "We've delayed going down to Reading especially for the gig. We were going on the Wednesday, but our friends are now going to pitch our tents for us.

"Hopefully we'll be able to skank a lift down on the We Are Scientists tour bus afterwards."

Singer Gavin Hyde added: "We are delighted to be playing the gig. We are all big fans, and this show will enable us to reach a new audience."

We Are Scientists went down a storm during two previous visits to The Met Lounge, and last year delivered an excellent set to a near capacity crowd at The Cresset.

Their debut album saw them arrive with a fanfare of critical acclaim, but with a progressive second album (the excellent Brain Thrust Mastery), and a knack for self-effacement, the band have managed to build a loyal fanbase, and sell out venues wherever they go.

Other acts on the bill are New Zealand's Cut Off Your Hands and Peterborough's Conor Owen.

Readers may already be familiar with Cut Off Your Hands, as they supported Does It Offend You, Yeah? at the Met Lounge earlier this year.

The winner of the pair of tickets for the gig, which ran in last week's The Guide, is Ben Martin, from Upwell, near Wisbech. Congratulations.

Tickets, costing £14, are available now by calling 01733 265705, or online at www.seetickets.com.

They will also be available on the door. The event is open to under-14s, but under-16s must be accompanied by an adult.
