Peterborough Beer Festival 2008: musical line-up

The 31st annual Peterborough CAMRA Beer Festival begins on Tuesday, August 19th, here's what's on the musical bill:

Tuesday, August 19:

Split Whiskers - 8.50pm to 9.35pm and 9.55pm to 10.45pm.

This six piece Cambridge based band of "young and old misfits" will bring a new slant on the blues, with the peddle firmly pressed down on the fun factor.

Wednesday, August 20:

The Aviators - 8pm to 8.55pm.

Well-crafted songs and real life lyrics. This is pop catchy enough to draw you in, but experimental enough that you will want to see them again and again.

The Mighty Quinn - 9.15pm to 10.45pm

With a growing following around the clubs and pubs of Peterborough, this hard working band are building a strong reputation with their mix of classic rock and pop songs, spanning through the decades.

Thursday, August 21:

Acer - 8pm to 8.55pm

Raw rock at its best with the hundred mile an hour vocals, complementing clever guitar riffs. They won a competition to play on the Saturday last year, to great acclaim.

Nine Below Zero - 9.15pm to 10.45pm

Emerging from the vibrant London pub and club scene of the late 1970s. Nine Below Zero have evolved into one of British rock n roll's most enduring and respected combos. Their gigs are energetic affairs, with a non-stop party.

Friday, August 22:

Groove Cartel - 8.15pm to 9.25pm

A collaboration of like-minded local musicians playing a mixture of original funk and hand picked gems from the old skool archives.

The Nuggets - 9.45pm to 11.15pm

Chelsea boots, platform shoes and psychedelic prints are the order of the day again as the festival embraces the once-famed swinging London of the 1960s. The Nuggets have captured the hearts of punters across the region, breathing life into those sixties gems.

Saturday, August 23:

Scott McEwan - 2pm to 3pm

Scott McEwan has toured the world with his band Caffeine, with their biggest show to date being at Giants Stadium, New York,with Muse, Linkin Park and My Chemical Romance to name a few. He is now wowing crowds with his solo music.

The Librarians - 3.15pm to 4.15pm

Young three-piece alternative rock band from Peterborough. Their last ever gig. Don't miss it.

King Kool - 4.30pm to 5.30pm

A kicking breed of art garage rock.
Ex Tribe of Dan front man, Dan Donovan along with Joe Mason make up this outfit producing music akin to all their heroes, Pixies, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Motorhead.

Plastic Soup - 5.45pm to 6.45pm

Based in London, and formed in 2005, Plastic Soup has tirelessly worked the live circuit, steadily building their broad yet loyal fan base, from students to 38 year-old doctors. Their live show offers stomping sets with great crowd interaction.

Angry Man - 7.40pm to 8.40pm

Beautiful stripped down rock, with hauntingly emotional lyrics.

Think Floyd - 9pm to 10.50pm

The UK's number one Pink Floyd tribute band are renowned for their stunning celebration of the music of one of the world's greatest rock icons.

Now in their 12th year of touring theatres and venues across the UK, festival organisers are delighted to secure the band to offer an exciting climax to the five days of music and drinking. As close as you will get to the real thing.
