ONE of the city's top bands will debut their new EP this evening.
Midwezt will launch the six-track disc at The Cherry Tree, in Oundle Road, from 7pm this evening.

Titled It Ain't Just Country, the EP is a live recording that showcases the band's performance.

Lead singer Charlie Armitage said: "It's turned out very well, and we're really pleased with it.

"It has an acoustic feel, and there are a lot of four-part harmonies on it," she said.

Formed around the songwriting partnership of Armitage and guitarist Mick Davison, the band built a steady following based around their electric live act, but found themselves without a suitable drummer, and made the decision to become an acoustic act.

"I think we're just evolving as we go on," Charlie said.

"It's just about finding new ways of doing things."

Entry to the night is free from 7pm, and the new EP will be available, along with T-shirts and merchandise.

Support comes from singer-songwriter Oliver Southgate.
