Jessica arrives to
IT will be down to the Queen of the Groove to get visitors to Mama Liz's in the mood for music next Friday.
Jessica Joy has been playing tunes for more than 15 years, and has the record collection to prove it.

Her first love was funk, and though she has explored many sounds and styles, funk is always there at the heart of it.

Jessica Joy first started DJing while working in a record shop in Bristol in 1992.

For six years she played under the name Seraphim alongside guests such as Moloko, Mint Royale, Organic Audio, Wall Of Sound, DJ Vadim and A Guy Called Gerald.

Seraphim played regularly at festivals, including a set on Glastonbury main dance stage rocking 7,000 ravers.

On moving to London, Seraphim kept up her residency at Chocolate City, and now playing breaks also became a resident at the hugely successful nu- skool night Freakz at the Bug Bar in Brixton.

Her musical approach encom- passes a range of styles, from her roots in funk, hip-hop and disco, to funky electro, fat breaks and dirty house, and is always guaranteed to put smiles on faces.

Jessica Joy is being put on by the Eclectic Ballroom team at Mama Liz's, Stamford on Friday, 7 November. More about Stamford's magical new music venue - the Voodoo Lounge, underneath the main bar of Mama Liz's Soul Food Shack.
