Peterborough Sailability club has been buoyed by a timely donation to ensure it stays afloat this summer. The disabled sailing charity is now riding on the crest of a wave following a donation of five red life-saving floats by the Bretton branch of Norwich and Peterborough Building Society (N&P).
Director and treasurer for Peterborough Sailability Malcolm Warwick said the aids were needed in order to comply with health and safety rules.
He said: "We are extremely grateful to N&P for the donation of these five buoyancy aids.
"We have strict health and safety procedures in place to reduce the risk of us having to use them, but it's great to know that they are there.
"As a registered charity, it means a great deal to have the support of our local building society."
Peterborough Sailability was established in May 2006 and now has 60 disabled members and 30 volunteers.
The club is open between April and October, on Tuesdays from 10am to 6pm and Thursdays from 11am to 6pm, and is based at the Ferry Meadows Water Sports Centre.

Sailing: a great way to spend your leisure time
We might be landlocked, but the sport of sailing is thriving in Peterborough, as ET news editor Paul Grinnell found out.
Mr Warwick added: "The club encourages its members to learn and enjoy sailing in a friendly and safe environment.
"It also provides a great sense of freedom to those who sail and helps to boost confidence too."
Customer advisor at N&P Bretton, at Rightwell East, Katie Denny said: "It's such a brilliant charity and they do so much to help local disabled people have fun with sailing.
"I'm really pleased that our donation will ensure that the members will stay safe."
