Today's selections of pictures include one of the city's old Isolation Hospital (above left). The picture was taken in 1982 a year after it closed. If you look closely you can see some broken windows.

I believe the hospital was located in Fengate and was in use from 1901 to 1981 treating patients with infectious diseases.

The next picture is a street scene of Eastfield Road which was probably taken some time in the 1980s.

The photograph of the Thomas Cook headquarters was taken in 1993 with the holiday giant since relocating from its Thorpe Wood base to Coningsby Road.

Below it is a photograph of lower Bridge Street featuring Brierley’s one of the city’s best known stores. Can anyone date the picture?

Next to it is another street scene of the same area taken in 1988. Most of the shops appear boarded up so perhaps it was before a redevelopment, the Rivergate Centre perhaps?

The last picture is a shot of Broadway in 1978.

Does anyone remember the shops such as Foster’s fruit shop and Nigel’s Bookshop?

Finally, the aerial view is of the Westwood redevelopment as part of the the New Town project. I’m sure (unless anyone knows any different!) that this is a picture of a model.
