Trio of shows in Oundle

A TRIO of concerts will showcase a variety of solo and ensemble performances.

Taking place in Oundle - either at the school chapel or the Great Hall - the events are on Sunday and Monday.

The first is at the chapel and is a performance of Gian Carlo Menotti’s classic one act opera, Amahl and the Night Visitors. Admission is free for a 5pm start.

Amahl was the first opera to be commissioned for television and first broadcast in December 1951. Since then it has been a staple part of the American Christmas television menu. Tickets are available by calling 01832 277132.

Later on that evening, James McVinnie plays Oundle School’s iconic Frobenius organ inside the chapel. He was organist at Westminster Abbey for the 2011 Royal Wedding. Admission is free from 7.45pm.

Ending the trio of shows, at The Great Hall on Monday, is Oundle School’s wind department staff concert. Admission is free for a 7.45pm start.
