ENJOY a double-bill of shows packed with value for wallet-tight times.

A Pie, A Pint and A Poet with Matt Panesh The Monkey Poet is at Spalding’s South Holland Centre on Wednesday night.

Radical Manchester-based comedian and poet Matt presents

a show of two halves. The first, Welcome! - to Afghanistan, is a hard-hitting funny account of Britain’s first entanglement with Afghanistan in the 1840s.

Based on first-hand accounts, the audience will see the development of the campaign as the Brits rejig government policy to see off the Russians by invading Afghanistan first, with disastrous and far-reaching consequences.

The second half, Welcome! - to the UK, is a set of satirical stand-up comedy poetry that questions national identity and what it means to be British nowadays. Think Bill Hicks meets Mark Thomas mixing it up with Byron.

Suitable for ages 16 and above. Tickets cost £10 and include a pie and first drink. Book on www.southhollandcentre.co.uk or 01775 764777.
