Say cello to Lloyd Webber: Julian Lloyd Webber at Cambridge Corn Exchange

CELEBRATED cellist Julian Lloyd Webber performs a recital at the Cambridge Corn Exchange.

Recently announced as artist-in-residence at the venue, Julian takes to the stage tomorrow (21 January) for a recital of works including Bach’s Adagio in G, Bridge’s Scherzetto and Elegy, Britten’s Scherzo Pizzicato, Fauré’s Elegie, Delius’ Sonata, his father William Lloyd Webber’s Nocture, and Rachmaninov’s lyrical Sonata. Julian said: “Cambridge is steeped in musical history, and the Corn Exchange, which celebrates its 25th anniversary later this year, gives people throughout Cambridgeshire the opportunity to experience live music by some of the very best symphony and chamber orchestras in the world today.”

There’s a pre-recital talk in the King’s Room at 7pm. The show then starts at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £20 from 01223 357851.

Other shows this week include Thin Lizzy on Wednesday and All Time Low on Thursday (tickets have sold out).

The Chinese State Circus is then at the venue next weekend.
