BUDDING writers and poets were able to hone their talent at a poetry workshop at a Peterborough school.

Around 20 primary pupils from across the city attended the Able Writers’ Programme led by poet Brian Moses at St Thomas More Primary School on Friday.

The poet shared with the youngsters his techniques for writing poetry and read some of his own poems before they had a go at creating some rhymes and poems themselves.

The workshop is part of a series of events being organised by the Peterborough Learning Partnership this year for city children to broaden and improve their writing skills.

Iain Simper, Peterborough Learning Partnership manager, said: “It was a fantastic day and the children got a huge amount out of it.

“They were completely enthralled by it all and the staff were also to take back ideas to use in their classes.”
