Peterborough is the star of new album from MJ Hibbett & The Validators
PETERBOROUGH is obliterated by space dinosaurs in a new album by indie band MJ Hibbett & The Validators.
The band’s lead singer Mark Hibbett is a former pupil at Deacon’s School (now the Thomas Deacon Academy), and had his first writing success in 1985 as an Evening Telegraph Young Writer Of The Year.
Dinosaur Planet is the fifth studio album from the band and it tells the story of what happens when dinosaurs return to Earth after 65 million years in space, and how Peterborough is destroyed in the process.
The album cover even shows an attack on Bourges Boulevard.
Mark based the album on a musical which he wrote and took to the Edinburgh Fringe festival in 2009. Mark was inspired to pen it after seeing a slightly disappointing one-man version of Jeff Wayne’s War Of The Worlds and deciding that he could do better.
He told The Guide: “I still come back to Peterborough to see my parents and go to the August beer festival so I wouldn’t really want to see it destroyed by dinosaurs!”
Guests on the album include Phil Wilson (The June Brides), Chris T-T, BBC One continuity announcer Claire Gibb and BBC Radio Tees DJ Bob Fischer.
