BLUES duo Lexie Green and Danny Moore narrowly missed out on a place in a national Battle of the Blues final.

The pair were one of six acts competing in a heat of the New Brunswick Battle of the Blues at the New Crawdaddy Blues Club in Essex.

However they missed out on the top spot to eventual winners Little Devils who now go through to the final in London next month.

Lexie, from Whittlesey, said: “Danny and I had a fantastic evening. We met so many lovely people, sold many discs and have some wonderful new friends to join us on our musical journey.”

The search for the best of British blues came about because the Canadian province of New Brunswick wanted the UK to provide performers for its famed Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival in Fredericton.

The overall winner will get an all expenses paid trip to Canada to play on one of the festival’s main stages in September.

Lexie also performs as a solo artist and her first gig was at Peterborough’s Met Lounge, in Bridge Street, in 2007.

She has since performed at many gigs and festivals including Cambridge’s Strawberry Fair.
