Busy time for Gizz and band

CITY guitar hero Gizz Butt returns for a date at The Park tonight to air new material from his band The More I See.

CITY guitar hero Gizz Butt returns for a date at The Park tonight to air new material from his band The More I See.The former Prodigy guitarist’s thrash metal five-piece will be supporting UK hardcore act Panic Cell from 7pm.

“We’ve just completed the recording of about 12 songs for a second album,” Gizz told The Guide.

“Over the last month, we’ve been going backwards and forwards between labels, but we had an e-mail from a label the other day saying they’d like to go ahead with the release, and so we’re waiting with baited breath at the moment for news.”

He said the new material has more of an emotional edge than debut album The Wolves Are Hungry.

“More has happened in the writing of this album than has happened in our entire lives, and that’s affected the result,” he said.

It’s a busy time for Gizz – as well as his work with goth rockers Fields Of The Nephilim and The More I See, he has been recruited to play with one of his teenage heroes for two sold-out gigs this weekend – Steve Ignorant of anarchic punk pioneers Crass.

“I’m playing with what is effectively Crass on Saturday and Sunday at Shepherd’s Bush Empire,” he said.

The Shepherd’s Bush dates will see the band play Crass’ The Feeding Of The 5,000 album in its entirety, and Gizz said he is particularly looking forward to playing Bloody Revolutions, one of his favourite tracks of all time.

l The More I See will headline the annual Christmas metal night on December 20 at The Park – details will follow soon.

The More I See will support Panic Cell at The Park tonight from 7pm. Entry costs 7 at www.thepark4music.com or 9 on the door.
