NENE Valley Railway will be re-creating the a cult television show from the 1950s this weekend (25/26 July). The Six-Five Special, launched in 1957, was the BBC's first attempt at a rock 'n' roll programme, but the team at Wansford Station, in Stibbington, near Peterborough, will put on their own version.
The 1950s Rock 'n' Roll Weekend will feature the Railway's flagship locomotive City of Peterborough carrying the visitors on the train services.
Playing on the Wansford station platform on the Saturday will be Rockin'em, while on the Sunday, Route 56 will be belting out the numbers from the era.
The only price is a train ticket or, if you just want to enjoy the music, a 2 platform ticket, and The Turntable caf will be serving 1950s dinners.
An evening dance in the marquee at Wansford will feature 'The Alleycats', a six-piece band from London, with tickets 8 at the door, with refreshments and real ale on sale.
