Peterborough Lions Club and Stroke Association calling for volunteers for abseil dare
BRAVE volunteers are being called to step forward and dare the dizzy height of the city’s tallest office building in a charity abseil event.
Peterborough Lions Club and the Stroke Association are working together to organise the spectacular event in Peterborough on Sunday, October 30.
Volunteers will abseil from the roof of Hereward House, more than 100 feet above Midgate, throughout the event which is expected to run from 2pm to 10pm, depending on the demand for places.
The funds raised will be split between the two charitable organisations.
As Halloween is the following day and a lot of abseiling will be done in the dark – those taking part will be invited to dress in spooky costumes. The cost is a £15 registration fee which is non-returnable and people need to raise a minimum of £75 sponsorship.
All volunteers will have a safety briefing and will be professionally supervised in their adventure.
During the descent people will be wearing safety helmets and harness.
For more information about the event or to ask for an application form contact Peterborough Lion Robert Mapletoft by email at robert_mapletoft@btinternet.com or by calling 0845 833 9534.
Alternatively, people can contact the Stroke Association by emailing polly.kennedy@stroke.org.uk
