Fireworks Fiesta: 'Display will be as spectacular as ever'

It may be the day after Halloween, but there is still no excuse to miss out on Saturday's Firework Fiesta which looks like being the biggest and best yet. Stars from the forthcoming Broadway pantomime will be at the Ferry Meadows event, which will see more than 15,000 people make their way to the park.
The highlight of the evening will be the stunning firework display, when more than 20,000 worth of rockets will be unleashed into the night sky.

Some other displays across the country may be forced to suffer from a lack of fireworks, after China halted its export to cope with the demand of the Beijing Olympics.
But Peterborough's premier Bonfire Night celebration was not affected, meaning that this year is expected to be the best yet.
Now in its 34th year – and having raised more than 285,000 for charities – Firework Fiesta is widely acclaimed, and is an event the people of Peterborough can be incredibly proud of.
Event chairman Neil Speechley said: "Our supplier, Kimbolton Fireworks, has been excellent. I believe they had to travel to China to make sure they had the fire- works, and then transported them back to the UK. Rest assured the display will be as spectacular as ever.
"We are hoping for a clear, chilly night, to make sure the thousands of visitors can watch the display.
Spectators will stand 100m away from the awesome display, which will be launched from the other side of the lake, but there will be plenty happening on the ground, too.
Leading the firework countdown will be Brian Capron, who played Richard Hillman in Coronation Street. Brian stars as Abanazar in this year's Broadway Pantomime, alongside Ray Quinn and Faye Tozer. Other Broadway panto performers will be with Brian, including kid's favourite Postman Pat.
There will also be live music from The Brink, Aladdin Sane, Mikey Matteo and Craig Saggers.
This year, the Guy for the huge bonfire was built by youngsters from Heltwate School, in Bretton, Peterborough.
Mr Speechley added: "We use a school locally to create the Guy. I've heard this year that it might be wearing one of the headmaster's old suits."
Peterborough's Mayor councillor Pat Nash will light the traditional fire at about 6pm. It's expected the fireworks will start at 7.45pm.
And to make the night even more special, Nene Valley Railway is laying on trains to Ferry Meadows from Peterborough and Wansford.
Ticket prices start from 3 in advance for children aged two to 16 years and 5 for above 16 years, prices for cars and other vehicles will cost considerably more as they start from 25 for cars carrying five occupants and HGVs and larger cars costing about 50, all in advance.
There are two official car parks available at Lynch Wood – EMAP (Bauer) and Norwich & Peterborough Building Society – and the Ferry Meadows car park is in use, however, you need to pre- book your space.
