Costumes of stars set to go on show
REGENCY fashions will be brought to life at a new exhibition in Wisbech.
Austen Attired will bring costumes from London firm Cosprop to Georgian National Trust attraction Peckover House, in Chapel Road.
The exhibition will feature eight costumes worn by stars from screen adaptations of Jane Austen’s classic stories.
They include the wedding outfits for Marianne Dashwood and Colonel Brandon (Alan Rickman), in the 1995 film Sense And Sensibility plus three dresses of the Dashwood sisters – Elinor (Emma Thompson), Marianne (Kate Winslet) and Margaret (Emile Francois).
Also on show will be the green silk picnic dress worn by Gwyneth Paltrow in 1996 film Emma; the blue dress worn by Jennifer Ehle as Elizabeth Bennett in Pride and Prejudice and a riding dress worn by Billie Piper in Mansfield Park, as tomboy Fanny Price.
Austen Attired will run during August from 1pm to 4pm.
