Blues: Claude Bourbon at Shakedown Blues show

FINGER picking guitarist Claude Bourbon makes a welcome return to Castor for the latest Shakedown Blues show.

Born in France in the early 60’s, Claude grew up in Switzerland, where he was classically trained for many years.

He has performed all over the world where he has crafted a fusion of classical, jazz, Spanish and Latin styles.

But Shakedown promoter Gerard Homan admitted he had initial reservations when approached for a gig.

“His wife asked me if he could do a Shakedown show and I was hesitant. We didn’t want a musical magpie.

“But I gave his tracks a listen and he’s a very good guitarist and his songs have lots of instrumental parts to them.

“There’s Somebody Missing Tonight is a great song,” he said.

Claude made his Shakedown debut in St Kyneburgha’s Church in 2010. He is at Castor Village Hall tomorrow.

Speaking about his last appearance Gerard added: “We were spell bound as he weaved a carpet of sounds with his guitar.”

Tickets cost £16 from www.shakedownblues.co.uk. They will also be available on the door for a 7.30pm start.
