Authors to mark Oundle Festival of Literature’s 10th anniversary
Blowing his own trumpet: Mitch Benn brings his new show to the Limelight Theatre in Aylesbury on February 18
A HOST of top authors will help the Oundle Festival of Literature mark its 10th anniversary in style.
The programme, which will run in the historic market town from March 7 to 18, will include the return of Alexander McCall Smith (March 7), author of the highly successful No 1 Ladies Detective Agency series.
Known for his role as Brian Aldridge in Radio Four’s long running series, Charles Collingwood (March 10) presents A Night at the Bull. There are only 120 tickets on sale so book early to avoid disappointment.
Adding a touch of rock and roll to proceedings will be Mitch Benn (March 17) from BBC Radio 4’s Sony nominated Now Show. Multi-award winner Mitch will perform a two hour show packed with new songs and old favourites including I’m Proud of the BBC which reached number 11 in the independent singles charts.
Luke Wright’s show Cynical Ballads stormed the 2011 Edinburgh Festival receiving five star reviews. Luke of Radio 4’s Saturday Live, makes a welcome return to Oundle with his eight caustic tales of broken Britain on March 14.
The festival also welcomes back a double whammy of favourite children’s poetry duo Paul Cookson and David Harmer with Spill the Beans on March 17. This whacky couple are celebrating 20 years of appearing together.
Schools will be bringing well over a thousand children to a Kid Lit programme that includes highly respected children’s poet and author, Tony Mitton, writer and editor Steve Coles, singer and writer, Harriet Goodwin, and broadcaster, Ali Sparkes.
