The Candle Thieves: bringing some sunshine to the summer

HOTLY tipped indie duo The Candle Thieves have just released a video for their new track The Sunshine Song.

HOTLY tipped indie duo The Candle Thieves have just released a video for their new track The Sunshine Song.Made up of Whittlesey's Anthony Shiels, known as The Glock, and his friend Scott McEwan, who also sings for a band called Caffeine, the band have had a successful summer.

Just a year after forming, The Candle Thieves have secured both a management and record deal, and are now looking to get their CD on coffee tables up and down the country.

The Sunshine EP is out on Alcopop records on Monday, September 14, and the video, which has a cartoon element to it, is one of this month's featured MySpace tracks.

Its release ties in with a tour they are doing in people's back gardens up and down the country.

Their live shows, where they have supported both Amy Studt and Sam Isaac at Peterborough's Met Lounge, are unique, with an inflatable shark perching on the side of the stage, bubbles being blown, party poppers exploding and posh chocolates dished out.

The Glock said: "Myself and Scott both knew each other from college, but had been playing with our other bands for a while.

"We wanted to do something a little less serious, and this is what we have come up with.

"Our live shows are fun, we like to get the crowd engaged. Sometimes we get a few bewildered faces looking back at us, but we don't mind that."
