Review: Destructors – Pow That’s What I Call Killmusik Volume 2 (Rewind)

THIS CD arrived on my desk on the same day as CD by The Damned.

I mention this because both albums are compilations of singles (or splits in this case) and, more importantly, both are more than 20 tracks.

Is this value for money, or a case of musical overkill?

I’ll let you decide, but I personally rarely listen to music for more than 30 or 40 minutes continually.

The other surprising thing about this Peterborough band’s latest is the new songs’ subject matter.

Two of these are attacks on immigration (the English abroad are also attacked, it has to be noted) – not an expected stance from a band who play a left-field brand of garage scuzz rock.

The scuzz rock template is fine for the split singles, but doesn’t it get a bit tiresome over 22 tracks?

Not really. Tracks such as the goth-tinged Warhol Wilson and the dub-version of Killing Cycle keep things interesting. It amazes me how the band keep it so fresh.
