A highlight of the week of events is tomorrow's floats parade which starts at 2pm from the Recreation Ground in Stamford. The theme is Myths and Legends and the parade, set to music, will wind its way through the town, taking in Broad Street and the High Street.

It will return to the Recreation Ground where the best floats will be awarded during a prize-giving ceremony. There will also be dancing displays and activities.

The fun continues on Sunday with the Stamford and District Lions Family Fun Day and the festival race at Burghley Park.

The Lions group has joined forces with the Royal British Legion to celebrate Armed Forces Day and there will be all the usual fun-filled activities for the whole family, including the opportunity to walk on water.

Lions president Ian Hall said he hoped to see as many people as possible enjoy the day.

Runners will pull on their running shoes to take part in the race and registration for the event is between 9am and 10.15am.
