Live music: Post War Years at the Met Lounge

HOTLY tipped electro act Post War Years are returning to Peterborough to play the Met Lounge as part of their debut album tour.

HOTLY tipped electro act Post War Years are returning to Peterborough to play the Met Lounge as part of their debut album tour. The four-piece grew up together in Leamington Spa and since upping sticks to the capital, they moved in to an abandoned Russian social club together.

The almost inseparable lifestyle of Henry, Simon, Tom and Fred has been the catalyst for a somewhat unique live experience.

With three members of the band regularly switching instruments and lead vocal duties, as well as performing intricate harmonies, Post War Years have naturally evolved into something more like a living organism rather than just an outcome of the sum of their parts.

The band have already played two shows in Peterborough, back in 2007, but are now out on the road promoting their inspired debut album The Greats And The Happenings.

Citing influences as broad ranging as Radiohead, Prince, Talking Heads, Joy Division, Tom Vek to Bjork, it's no surprise that what they come up with is a twist on the math rock genre – championed by Foals last year.

They play the Met Lounge on Thursday, 18 June.

Before that, tonight, it's Navvy – a four-piece combo from Sheffield whose debut album Idyll Intangible received a 7/10 rating from NME.

Don't forget Saturday night at The Park it's the BlitzKidz, with support from The Ruined.

Both shows start at 8.30pm, and entry costs 6. Reserve in advance by calling 01733 571616.
