Top Aussie band Operator Please will be making an appearance in Peterborough tonight (July 23).Promising talent Operator Please will feature on the bill at The Met Lounge, after winning hundreds of new fans with their dazzling performance at this year's Glastonbury Festival.

The young five-piece, all aged from 17 to 19, will grace the stage tonight as a warm-up ahead of their show at Huntingdon's Secret Garden Party.

Many will be familiar with their punk-pop sound, as they have already played shows with Lightspeed Champion and The Futureheads, as well as featuring on Later with Jools Holland.

As well as playing tracks off their debut album, Yes Yes Vindictive, the energetic quintet should also slip a cover or two into their set. Salt 'n' Pepa's Push It and Devo's Whip It have received the Operator Please makeover in the past.

Co-promoter Rachel Devlin, from Peterborough's Deaf By Stereo promoters, said: "Originally the band were going to play Peterborough in May, but this got postponed because they had some promotion work to do in Europe.

"When we heard they were playing Secret Garden Party, we had to get them to Peterborough as a warm-up. They really are fantastic live for ones so young."

Operator Please are five kids who met in high school after a reconnaissance mission by vocalist/guitarist Amandah Wilkinson to fill numbers for a band competition.

Amandah explains: "We rehearsed at lunch times in the practice room. I picked people at random who I knew played an instrument, and they just said yes."

Support comes from Huntingdon's A Girl Called Kate, who are rapidly building up a vast fan base of their own, following shows with The Subways, Does It Offend You, Yeah? and We Smoke Fags.

The two other acts on the bill are The Jivecats and Sam Bartlett.

Entry is open to 14+, but under-16s must be accompanied by an adult. Doors are at 8pm.
