AROUND 100 students and staff enjoyed a riveting lecture about media ethics given by pop star and journalist- turned-parish-priest, the Rev Richard Coles.
On his visit to the Peterborough School, in Thorpe Road, Mr Coles challenged the students to think about the future of the media in light of technological advances in the internet and social networking.
He first made his name in the 1980s as one half of the pop duo The Communards, then had a successful career as a writer and journalist, before turning to theology and being ordained as a priest in 2005. He regularly features in broadcasts on Radio 4 and has appeared on TV’s Have I Got News For You and Songs of Praise.
Head of School Emily Morgan said: “The lecture on a topic, which is in itself currently so top of the mind, was extremely interesting and thought-provoking and was made all the more enjoyable by his entertaining stories.
“We were delighted to welcome the Rev Coles as the latest speaker in our series of Prestige Lectures and very pleased that students and teachers from other schools were also able to attend.”
