KathlAMERICAN singer Kathleen Pearson-Thomas is the first performer for the 2010 series of Shakedown Blues concerts.

The talented vocalist honourably stepped in after the initial performer, Little Willie Littlefield, has to cancel.

Unfortunately, his cancellation meant the planned show at Castor Village Hall had to be postponed, but Kathleen's commitment ensures the Stamford show can still go on.

It takes place at Stamford Arts Centre, from 8pm tonight.

Kathleen was born into religious music, and by the time she could stand up and walk, she was inducted into the Long Beach California church choir.

Her parents also had a liking for blues, soul and parties.

It was this vibrant combination that led to Kathleen becoming the family DJ, spinning soul, Tamla motown and rhythm and blues, at every occasion.

Moving to London in her twenties, Kathleen moved into 'Black Girl Rock', and appeared on Channel 4's The Word programme.

She soon headed out on a tour of the UK, Belgium, Russia and Italy, performing to sell-out crowds.

Kathleen has since relocated to Spain (where she performed at The Mijas Blues Festival), and has gone back to her blues and soul roots.

Tickets for tonight's show cost 13 from 01780 763203.
