SUPERSTAR Aston Merrygold will be given a sensational summer homecoming when he performs in front of 20,000 screaming fans in Peterborough. The former Jack Hunt School pupil turned Mobo prize winner singer will take to the stage alongside his band mates from chart-toppers JLS on the city's Embankment on Sunday, 18th July.

Tickets for the concert, which should be one of the biggest in the city's history, went on sale at 8am this morning.

The concert was announced on today's Breakfast With Kev and Abi on Heart FM, and presenter Kev Lawrence said: "I am delighted to be able to announce Heart are producing this concert.

"The boys are busy rehearsing for their tour that starts this week, but I know they are buzzing about this concert. Aston has said he is delighted about the chance to come home.

"It is fantastic that we will be able to celebrate one of the city's real success stories here in Peterborough.

"We have seen huge concerts before, with Blue and Will Young, but this will be so much bigger."

Since finishing as runners up on The X-Factor in December 2008, the band have gone from strength to strength, with their first single, Beat Again, racing to the top of the charts. They also achieved triple platinum with their first album, titled JLS, and have been nominated for three Brit Awards this year.

The DJ also said that negotiations were taking place for a number of high profile support acts to perform on the day.

Since hitting the big time, Aston has spoken on numerous times about performing in his home city.

In a recent interview with the ET, he said: "If I could say anything to the people of Peterborough it would be thank you for the support. They've all made four lucky guys' dreams come true by voting for us, buying the singles and going to the concerts. We're pushing hard to do a concert in Peterborough. I haven't forgotten you guys."

Tickets cost 28.50 and are available at www.heart.co.uk before going on general release on Monday.
