Recognisable but very different

Landmarks such as the Great Northern Hotel, the museum and Crescent Bridge have not altered in the intervening years.

“Queensgate’’ roundabout had been built although the centre had not yet been dug out.

The area where Queensgate shopping centre now stands had not yet been cleared dating the picture sometime in the early 70s .

Can anyone tell me when this picture was taken?

The old Perkins factory can be seen and Bourges Boulevard was a single (and judging by the picture a not very busy) carriageway.

The picture (middle top) is taken from Crescent Bridge looking towards the city centre and shows a huge area where buildings have been demolished to make way for Queensgate.

I wonder who the young mum was and what was perched on her child’s buggy.

The picture below is of Broadway. I love the old-style taxis.

Tesco is in place and the Cannon cinema is still open. Sheltons store can be seen in the background. What year would you say this was?

The final two pictures feature scenes of Park Road including one of the old Co-operative store . Were these photographs taken in the 1970s?
