FEARS over the traffic impact of a proposed warehouse development near Stanground have been played down.
FEARS over the traffic impact of a proposed warehouse development near Stanground have been played down.Logistics giant Gazeley wants to create a site, called Magna Park, between Park Farm and the freight railway line, covering 135 hectares of open land.
A new rail interchange with sidings and a container yard are also proposed.
The scheme – which has not yet reached the stage of a planning application – has caused uproar among residents, with some nervous about the possible effect on the area's roads.
However, in a letter to one of them, Gazeley's director of planning, Don Morgan, points out the company intends to fund the dualling of the eastern section of the Stanground bypass, which is only intended as a single carriageway by the developer building it, Persimmon Homes.
Mr Morgan says this will "help to offset the traffic impactand provide benefits to other road users using the bypass as the major route to the Fletton Parkway".
