In this light-hearted feature we ask a company car driver in the Peterborough area to answer a number of questions on topics of the moment This week it's Chris Haynes, education account executive of E4 Education.Q: Do you believe that a new speaker for the House of Commons will herald a start in restoring the public's faith in Parliament?

A: I think that a new speaker will help to present a new fresh face for parliament, but I don't think that it will restore any confidence at all. I cannot see confidence growing in a Labour government until the row about MPs' expenses is dealt with and the Government starts making positive changes which affect the country and the economy rather than themselves. If the MPs in government were prosecuted and made to pay back money which they have falsely claimed, then I think it would go a long way to helping restore confidence.

Q: Do you feel the West should speak out more strongly in favour of the rioters in Iran?

A: I feel that with what has gone on with the British diplomats in Iran, we are starting to be sucked into the problems of Iran. It is not our problem, so why get involved? The Government put our troops into Iraq and Afganistan, haven't our people done enough?

Q: Are you optimistic over the economy, given reports that mortgage deals rose to a 13-month high?

A:: It is certainly positive that the banks are now lending again and the fact that mortgage deals are at the highest in 13 months is good news, but while companies are still going into liquidation and people are having their houses repossessed it is worrying times. I still feel that it will be quite some time before things improve significantly in the economy.

Q: Do you share the outrage over the 9.6 million pay deal awarded to RBS boss Stephen Hester?

A: In all honesty, it is one massive amount of money for one person to earn but if you can demand that kind of a pay deal then good luck. From what I have read he is very talented and the man for the job so I wish him well. I am also a firm believer in "you get what you pay for" so 9.6 million is a small price to pay to rescue the 20 billion bailout from the Government! If he manages to turn the bank around then it can only be good for the Government and the economy with 70 per cent of the bank being owned by the Government, can't it?
