The Cherry House at Werrington was the lunch venue of choice for more than 20 students and lecturers from Stamford College ALS.
The catering students have been learning skills for work and living in preparation for future employment and had earlier attended a demonstration by Philip Corrick, Executive Chef at the Royal Automobile Club in Pall Mall and Woodcote Park in Epsom.
Following a morning of hearing about fine food it was time to taste some; the students were treated to a three course lunch at one of the area’s longest established and most highly regarded restaurants, The Cherry House in Werrington - owned by Philip’s brother Andrew.
A starter of smoked salmon, smoked trout, smoked mackerel & asparagus served with a tomato salsa and tiger prawns was followed by a main course of roast rump of English lamb accompanied by a sweet potato timbale and a rich rosemary jus. The meal was rounded off nicely with a trio of poached baby pear, a dark chocolate and amaretto mousse and a brandy snap basket filled with vanilla ice cream, dressed with dark & white chocolate sauce.
