SHAKESPEARE'S Merry Wives of Windsor is being brought to life by Peterborough Mask Theatre tonight (Friday, 26 June) and Saturday, at 7.30pm.The play revolves around the key themes of love and marriage, jealousy and revenge, social class and wealth. Each theme is explored with Shakespeare's characteristic irony, sexual innuendo and sarcasm.

Because the play is also about stereotypical views of classes and nationalities, it gives a closer modern-day view of life than is often found in other Shakespearian plays.

This is the sixth year the Mask Theatre has performed one of Shakespeare's plays in Central Park as part of the Peterborough Festival.

Tickets cost 6 (3 concessions) and can be obtained from Peterborough Tourist Information Centre by calling 01733 452336 or John Crisp on 01733 560918.

If the weather is wet, the play will transfer from Central Park to the King's School, in Park Road.
