COMIC scenarios surrounding life in a Peterborough drop-in centre are the basis for this season's production from The Revellers.Written by Brian Havers, Drop In is being performed at the Peterborough Indoor Bowls Club, in Burton Street from Wednesday until February 6.
Speaking to The Guide, Brian said he chose the drop-in centre location because "it's a place where people congregate".
He added: "You get a great mixture of personalities coming in and out. I though it would be a perfect place to base the play on."
So you can expect to see an ageing hippy rub shoulders with teenagers, and middle-aged ladies mingling with council workmen.
Brian admitted he is a big fan of British sitcoms, with Dinnerladies (starring Victoria Wood) being a favourite.
The Revellers are now in their 63rd year, and put on two or three plays, musicals or pantomimes a year at different venues around the city, raising money for good causes in the process.
The two main people behind the group are Clive and Sue Read, who have written many plays together, including Naff Caf and Evil In Tents.
Drop In is a supper theatre production, this means you get dinner, sweet and coffee, with your ticket.
Tickets cost 15, and it's possible to book a table for up to eight people. Patrons should be seated by 7pm for the meal, which is then followed by the first act. The sweet and coffee is served during the interval.
To book, call Sue Read on 01733 560449 or Sylvia Drake on 01733 755176.
