Store's valuation day proves to be popular with shoppers

HAMPTON residents found the real value of their valuables at a special day in Serpentine Green last week.

HAMPTON residents found the real value of their valuables at a special day in Serpentine Green last week. The valuation day was held at H Samuels, in the shopping centre, earlier this month, and scores of people took advantage of the opportunity to make sure they had their jewellery valued and placed on a database to make it easier to trace if lost or stolen.

The rings, necklaces watches and bracelets were all examined by staff from the National Association of Goldsmiths. The event was organised by Safeguard, an independent valuation service.

Today, the event was described as a success by Kelly Fisher from Safeguard, which holds similar events across the country.

She said:”We always get lots of people coming down to the events, and the Peterborough one was no exception.

“It can be important for people to get the peace of mind that this service can bring them in case they lose their valuables, for whatever reason.

“We are certainly looking at running a similar event in the city again next year.”
