The Courteeners played to a sell-out crowd at the Met Lounge. The indie rockers went on to have a stellar 2008, including a support tour with the Stereophonics.
Much-loved EastEnders actor Todd Carty made the transition from stage to screen by appearing in The Business of Murder at the Key Theatre.
Thousands descended on Whittlesey once again for the annual Whittlesea Straw Bear festival. Good weather made for a great turn-out.
FEBRUARY
Young comic star of BBC's Mock The Week, Russell Howard, played the first of two well received shows at the Broadway Theatre.
Political punk rockers Anti-Flag stormed The Cresset with a riotous run through their acclaimed back catalogue.
Young electro act Late Of The Pier mesmerised a Sunday night crowd at the Met Lounge. Their debut album Fantasy Black Channel went on to become one of the albums of the year.
MARCH
The Oundle Festival of Literature took over the quaint market town near Peterborough. Highlights included talks from Paddy Ashdown, James Naughtie and Gervais Phinn.
Energetic four-piece Does It Offend You, Yeah? proved lightning strikes twice when they played a second sell-out show at The Met Lounge on Easter Sunday.
Ageing rockers Stiff Little Fingers played at The Cresset. They have announced a 2009 date at the same venue on April 1.
APRIL
Dave Spikey, who rose to fame in Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights, starred at The Broadway Theatre with a fantastic stand-up show.
Hip-hop trio N-Dubz played a special anti-bullying show at The Park to a teenage audience.
Ocean Colour Scene made a return to the city for a vibrant acoustic performance at The Cresset theatre.
MAY
The Levellers were a popular draw at The Cresset over the late May bank holiday weekend.
Truckfest came to town again. Coronation Street's Jack P Shepherd and Boyzone members were the big draws.
he Subways stormed their way through a set at The Cresset. The young trio played hits from their two albums.
JUNE
Thousands enjoyed the summer activities at the Peterborough Festival – entitled Summer Fantasy.
The East of England Show provided plenty of family entertainment, and the new indoor exhibition centre proved to be a particular success.
Hotly tipped for 2009, Golden Silvers played a show with The Runners at The Met Lounge. Golden Silvers also played four shows at the Glastonbury Festival.

Young Aussie act Operator Please played a warm-up show for the Secret Garden Party at the Met Lounge.
Operatic sensation Russell Watson played a show at the Broadway Theatre, he had previously postponed the show after battling cancer.
It was picnics galore at the annual Battle Proms at Stamford's Burghley House. Highlights included a Napoleonic display.
AUGUST
Sir David Attenborough spoke about his illustrious life to a sell-out audience at the Broadway Theatre.
Girls Aloud played to a packed crowd at Elton Hall. Unfortunately, many revellers had to spend three hours in the car park after, due to traffic gridlock.
Think Floyd were the main attraction at this month's Peterborough CAMRA Real Ale Festival.
SEPTEMBER
Former Coronation Street actor Kevin Kennedy and Blue singer Anthony Costs were among the cast for the eXtra Factor at Peterborough's Key Theatre.
Indie rockers Little Man Tate played a number of Top 40 hits at The Park when they stopped off in the city on their autumn tour.
Successful Peterborough band The Brays played two huge single launch shows at Radius. The band had a great 2008.
OCTOBER
Controversial singer Boy George picked songs from his back catalogue to play in front of an adoring crowd at the Broadway Theatre.
Lewd Scottish comedian Frankie Boyle proved why he became 2008's most popular new comic with a show at the Broadway Theatre.
Former singer with The Darkness, Justin Hawkins, brought his new outfit (Hot Leg) to play at The Park on Halloween.
NOVEMBER
Aussie soap star and singer Jason Donovan wowed his Peterborough fans with a gig at the Broadway Theatre.
Brit rockers Feeder played a sell-out show at The Cresset. Fans sung along with all the hits, including Buck Rogers and Just The Way I'm Feeling.
Peterborough's Cathedral Square was packed when X Factor competition Laura White turned on the Christmas lights. She was supported by oompah band De Zweibels.
DECEMBER
Thousands flocked to the Broadway Theatre to see Aladdin. The pantomime featured Brian Capron, Faye Tozer and Ray Quinn – who departed the show shortly before Christmas.
Boy band JLS, featuring Peterborough's Aston Merrygold, came second in the X Factor competition. JLS return to the city in February to play two shows.
Peterborough electro trio Fenech Soler capped off a fine 2008 with a packed show at The Met Lounge. The band played shows with The Whip and The Presets this year.
