TWO of the UK's most promising acts for 2009 success are at the Peterborough's Met Lounge tonight (Friday, from 8pm).Both James Yuill and Exit Calm have received rave reviews for their live shows, and each act has played top support slots for some of the country's leading alternative bands.

Fans of The Verve will be left mesmerised by Exit Calm's barrage of shimmering guitars and soaring northern vocals.

So far this year, Exit Calm have supported The Music on tour, and have received personal plaudits from Mani from Primal Scream, alongside other indie legends.

Sheffield's Exit Calm are made up of Nicky Smith on vocals with former Lyca Sleep members Rob Marshall, Scott Pemberton and Simon Lindley.

Headlining the night is James Yuill.

Like many music lovers of his generation, James Yuill has a passion for both the emotional songwriting and atmospheres of artists such as Nick Drake, Radiohead and Sufjan Stevens and the visceral beats and dynamic rhythms of Justice, Chemical Brothers and Aphex Twin.

Unlike anyone else, however, James has fused these seemingly disparate influences into a magical sound of his very own, something that didn't go un-noticed by radio, with DJs including Huw Stephens, Colin Murray and John Kennedy all championing him on air.

A hectic live schedule, taking in SxSW in Texas, Radio 1's Big Weekend in Kent and many points in-between, has certainly added to the tangible buzz around James Yuill.

The opening act is Peterborough's The Brackets, who are growing in stature now they have settled on the shared lead vocals of Paddy and Dan Burke.

Tickets cost 6 at the door from 8pm. Entry, to the venue, in Bridge Street, is open to 14+, but under-16s must be accompanied by an adult. To find out more, visit www.myspace.com/deaf_by_stereo
