GET face to face with dinosaurs at a specatacular new exhibition opening at Peterborough Museum this weekend.Visitors to the museum over the next few weeks have the opportunity to travel back more than 65 million years while visiting an exciting new exhibition – Dinosaur! The Age Of The Dinosaurs.
It opens to the public tomorrow morning, and runs until September 13.
The exhibition is particularly suitable for families, with many hands on activities and interactive displays, and is free of charge to enter.
It promises to take visitors on a journey through time, first revealing how paleontologists have uncovered the remains of these remarkable creatures, and how we now know so much about them.
Children can come face to face with a triceratops, see a stegosaurus or be confronted by the fearsome Utahraptor.
The exhibition also features many real fossils on display, on loan from some other nationally important collections including the Sedgewick Museum, in Cambridge and the Natural History Museum in London.
Heritage collections manager for Peterborough City Council Glenys Wass said: “We are very excited to host this exhibition, which we hope everyone will enjoy. Peterborough is internationally important for its Jurassic marine reptiles, and it is great to have this opportunity to see their land-based brothers.
“So whether you were into dinosaurs as a kid, or have children who love them, this exhibition promises to excite.”
The museum is open from 10am to 5pm, Tuesday to Saturday, and noon to 4pm, on Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays. It is closed on Mondays during school terms, but open 10am to 5pm on Mondays during the Peterborough school holidays. Admission is free of charge.
