REGARDING the closure of the General Post Office in Peterborough and the city council.
I hope the post office campaigners have huge luck. I can't claim the same.
I signed up for the Post Office broadband and Homephone service, which began on July 9.
On August 9, they increased my calls from 3p a minute to 4p.
They cancelled
the £1 bill advantage I got for paying by direct debit, and they issued free weekend calls for 16 overseas destinations, except my son works in the Caribbean. So no help there then.
Have you noticed how the Post Office never offers special deals for anything to the Caribbean, when thousands of expatriates pay their taxes here?
Neither does BT.
At the same time, one has to question what the city council is up to.
After all, what city in Britain would knock down such a historical and marvellous monument to the history of the town, plus those invaluable businesses using the buildings, in order to make a bigger square? (ie a bigger empty space).
Surely it can't be beyond the remit of the council to wait a bit longer?
One would expect it to give the Post Office people a chance to resite effectively, even help them to do it.
The people at the Post Office are just not yelping very loudly, so it makes me wonder why they are not so bothered then.
Are they planning to let it all happen so they can say it was the council's fault Peterborough lost its centrally-sited office?
Or is there a bigger deal none of us have been told about?

Lincs Prize was a real tonicI was very lucky recently to win two tickets for Rock With Laughter at Elton Hall.
As recently being registered disabled and having had a total hip replacement only four years ago, aged only 50, I entered your competition thinking I had no chance, but it was to be.
My husband came with me, and it was a truly fantastic evening.
The weather was good and the acts were brilliant. It was a much-needed tonic for me.
I was laughing so much my sides hurt – especially with Jo Brand and Jasper Carrot.
Thankyou so much – it cheered me up no end.

Despite millions of pounds being spent on creating three lanes, the installation of the traffic lights has done nothing other than create a rat run through Malborne Way, as commuters to and from the city during peak times use the road to avoid joining the tailbacks caused by the traffic lights.
