We would like to thank the committee members of Peterborough Supports Heroes for all their hard work and dedication in organising a tremendous and heart-warming fund-raising day.
The event, at the Dragon pub, in Werrington, Peterborough, was organised in aid of our troops abroad.

The organisers should hold their heads high with pride in what they achieved during the day and the many days of hard work leading up to the event.

As ward councillors for Werrington, we were overwhelmed to see such support and to witness true community spirit alive and active in Werrington.

It makes us all so very proud and privileged to be councillors.

Well done to you all, from the bottom of our hearts.
JOHN FOX, JUDY FOX and STEVE LANE
Independent councillors,
Werrington North ward

Troops deserve parade in the city
RE: Emotional welcome for RAF troops back from Afghanistan (ET, September 1).

I'M sure there are many who would welcome these brave servicemen and women to the streets of Peterborough in full uniform.

They do their best, sometimes with little or inadequate equipment, patrolling, fighting and training personnel abroad to protect us without question.

How many of us would perform these tasks on a daily basis?

I am proud of these men and women who protect us, and so should all those who live in this free country of ours.

Welcome home boys and girls, you have done a good job. I, for one, will attend your welcome home parade if we have one in Peterborough.

Please, if you do have one, could you hold it at the weekend. Like most people, I have to work in the week and would find it difficult to get the time off.

Peterborough Supports Heroes would love to see a parade of the troops through our city. Will the Council be trying to arrange something for the bases in our area - RAF Wittering and MOD North Luffenham? And how about giving them the key to the City, then they can march whenever they want to.
