PROOF, if it was needed, that it is never too late to turn your life around surely lies in the flying feet of runner George Dawson.
George has run no less than 100 marathons. He'll hare round a half-marathon course in about two hours, which is a very respectable time. In fact, it's downright amazing, considering that George is 75 years old. And, if that isn't surprising enough,
he didn't give up cigarettes and start running until he was 50, an age when most folk are starting to think about taking it easier.

Not George. He pushed himself harder and harder to run further and faster. Soon he was running a mile in six minutes 15 seconds and training six days a week with his wife Moira on her bike urging him on. When she died, George honoured his promise to her to complete 100 marathons, and five years after reaching that milestone he's still running, doing 50 miles a week.

For the last two years he has been the oldest participant in the Great Eastern Run, and he'll be pounding the city streets again for this year's event on October 12.

We wouldn't bet against George the Great giving much younger folk a run for their money.

What happened to the sunshine?
WELL, here it is, the last Bank Holiday of the summer. We would like to say make hay while the sun shines, but as you try to give the showers the slip at Sunny Hunny, just think – it won't be long until Christmas.
