IT'S good to see that Peterborough's older people have no intention of just fading away, and many are filling their retirement days with a hive of activity.
With people living longer, thanks to better nutrition, modern medicine, and healthier living, the over-65 age group needs to be given the opportunity to play an active role in society. Their experience is being recognised in the work place with many
delaying retirement because they still enjoy doing a job, and politicians are aware of the growing power of the "grey vote."

However, UK Older People's Day is a reminder that some elderly people can feel left out, and some scrimp and scrape because they are unaware of their benefits entitlement. It is these people we need to look out for.

There's no doubt we would all eventually like to follow 74-year-old Mary Telford's approach to retirement. Mary has a hectic time with line dancing, French lessons, computer classes and keep fit. She hasn't got time to be bored.

Well done to bright spark at council
HERE'S a pat on the back for the city council, for not just encouraging the rest of us to be greener, but setting a good example by providing a pool of staff cycles. Now an electric bike is being road tested to help staff zip between meetings. Sound like fun.

Drugs 'droid helps out at pharmacy

IT may not be like Transformers, but the robot helping to dispense medicines at Edith Cavell Hospital is a great idea. It doesn't get sick, and never needs pills.
