IT has, in recent weeks, become blatantly clear that no one is safe from the effects of the credit crunch.
So it comes as no surprise to learn that Peterborough City Council is feeling the pinch, just like everyone else.
Still reeling from the loss of £3 million with the collapse of banks in Iceland where the sum was depositied, a senior finance office
r at the town hall has revealed an untimely drop in revenue.
With money tight, fewer people have been applying for planning permission, for which there is a charge, and renting council-owned commercial property.
The revenue drop runs to more than £800,000.
Thankfully, the council is confident it is managing the situation well.
Residents of Peterborough will take some heart from that – as a rise in council tax to make up the difference would be a hard pill to swallow in the current economic climate.
Yobs spoiled the Posh celebration
POSH have been going great guns in the league – sitting pretty in the play-off places on the back of last season's promotion winning campaign.
All the headlines have been for what has been happening on the pitch.
So it is disappointing to report on a court case which saw four fans arrested for yobbish behaviour during a match at London Road.
The only good thing to come of it is that they will be banned from returning to the terraces for three years.
Posh – and football in general – doesn't need supporters like that.
Vote for JLS
Oh, and for anyone who hasn't realised what Saturday means, don't forget to vote for JLS.
Aston and the boys have been sensational week in, week out on X Factor and done Peterborough proud.
It would be a great boost for the city's image if they were get through tonight – but they need your votes.
