Thanks for placing the sports report in The ET about my lifting results in the European Powerlifting Championships.
I'm really proud of my achievements, and am grateful for the recognition.

I just wanted to add a comment for publication on the letters page to say that while I'm happy with the reporting, I'm concerned about the suggestion that I referred to "all women Olympic weightlifters" as being "freaks".

I'm certainly aware that there probably is a stereotype associated with women in strength-related sports, and that there are some women who are much less petite than my own build.

However, I'd like to make it clear that I did not specifically make that particular comment, since I realise this is offensive to a whole community of athletes, particularly of my own gender.

Being a woman in a male- dominated sport is something I'm keen to promote, as much, in fact, as my own competition results.

Therefore, disparaging a similar sport and its athletes is not something I'd seek to do.

I'd be grateful if you'd print my concern at not being represented as having that opinion.

Dogs can be soft as a baby
With reference to your article on Staffordshire bull terriers and their being unpopular because of this dangerous dog fear attached to them, please take a minute to look at the photograph of my 22-month-old Staff with my four-week-old grand-daughter.

Kierra, the Staff, is the most gentle and loving dog you could meet, as you can see with Ashlee, the new baby.

Information wanted on former Allens
We are putting together information to mount an exhibition at the town hall on October 23 and 24.

One of the projects which we are keen to advance is to collate information about families who have been buried in Broadway Cemetery.

There are records of 50 gravestones erected in the name of Allen. The earliest is that of a Sarah ann Allen, May 1867, aged 45, wife of Abraham, died December 1889, both buried in the same plot. The most recent is Kate Ellen Allen in May 1958, aged 83, wife of Frederick William.

Of particular interest would be any information on any descendants of Captain Norman allen, who was killed in action on April 14, 1918, on the Italian front and left a widow, genevieve Marie, nee Frebourg.

Should any readers have details, particularly photographs of anyone with the name Allen known to have been buried in the emetery, we would be delighted to hear from them.

Parking ban creates problems
The recent decision to stop motorcycles parking in areas just north of the station has led to a big problem in the dedicated motorcycle park.

The huge increase in car park fees is, in part, responsible for this, as it encouraged many drivers to become riders.

Re photo: Maybe that's acceptable in Wisbech, but here in the civilized world I would call the baby's mother a bad parent for allowing that. There are illnesses etc that can be picked up from dogs to think about as well. Maybe the social services should be giving you a visit.
