BEHIND many of today's social problems there seems to a lamentable selfishness and jealousy that has led to thefts and vandalism. It's almost as if the vultures who prey on decent people think "if we can't take it, we'll break it."
Clearly, these people are without any decency and have no conscience, or regret for the effect of their actions on those who suffer as a result.
You might have thought that even yobs would think twice about attacking those who are doing vital work helping the vulnerable and the sick in the community, but that doesn't stop sat-navs and medical equipment being stolen from ambulances, or district nurses and midwives being targeted.
Likewise, who on earth would lurk around the disability unit at the Gloucester Centre in Orton Longueville, and break a padlock and chain to steal a scooter? They couldn't even ride it because the steering lock was on.
This particular theft has left Katrina Gilbert, who has a serious heart problem and walks with difficulty, with enormous personal problems. Katrina is just one of many whose everday life has been blighted by petty crime, and sadly there seems to be no cure for this sickness.
