PEOPLE will be shocked today by the story of one victim of the hooded mugger who is preying on women in the city.
This woman, whose identity we have protected, works at a supermarket to help care for her blind and disabled husband.

She endured a horrific attack that left her with a broken hip, a broken collar bone, an injured knee, and cuts and bruises.

As she lay on the ground in the middle of a heavy hail shower, suffering terrible pain, her attacker clearly had no concern whatsoever for her welfare, and callously rode off with her bag, which contained a hard-earned £30.

She had to have two plates in her hip to repair the damage, and faces a long recuperation – and perhaps a lifetime of being fearful of going anywhere on her own.

This lout has now attacked 16 women by riding up to them on a bicycle and grabbing their handbags.

He has no compunction in using violence to get his way, even leaving one 78-year-old woman with a broken finger.

Someone out there knows who this pathetic yob is.

We urge them to shop him to the police now, before one of his attacks has an even more tragic outcome.

Darragh keeps the fans smiling

WE'RE delighted Darragh MacAnthony laughed off reports suggesting his fortune has dwindled.

He's certainly put a smile back on the faces of Posh fans since taking over the club.

This could have been your wife, grandmother or daughter. This thug has struck 16 times - and the police are probably correct when they say he will strike again and again until he is caught. Please, if anyone knows who is responsible for these crimes tell the police or someone who is prepared to go to the police - before another woman is seriously hurt or even worse.

Let's be honest over this - is there really much point in catching him?
The do-gooders will ensure he gets off with no real punishment. Maybe he'll get an ASBO, which he'll wear as a badge of honour. Maybe he'll be sentenced to a a year in prison but let out after a day because they're all full. maybe he'll get community service but he won't have to turn up because nothing happens to the people who don't.
What needs to be done is bring back proper punishments which will be a proper deterrent. Then catch whoever's doing it and throw the book at him.

Yes you are so right about the do gooders they have spent the last 40 years undermining the law of the land in favour of the criminal.
In a way they are the worst criminals even worse than the real ones because of there misguided notion that the law must be seen trying to help these scum bags instead of locking them up.
For instance how on earth does it justify any law when offenders are still given Probation after committing over 100 crimes, I have a lot to do with the Probation Service and use them on projects and I see the same ones time after time after time.
One of the biggest disgraces of many is to see convicted motorists turning up at a site in there cars with no tax on them.

Why are we asking people to turn the cuprit in? Why aren't the police out there setting up targets to draw this person in? Do we pay our taxes to have a police force that simply says "turn them in" every time we have a problem on the streets? I for one would not report him to the police if I knew who he was for the very reasons mentioned by the two previous posters. The law does not support the victim. If they do get a prison sentence, it will either be too short to have any impact or so long they will end up on drugs and come out as a career criminal. The justice system should be about two things; firstly punishment and justice for the victim and secondly, rehabilitation. A person should not undergo rehabilitation until their sentence has been served and should not be let out of prison until considered no longer a danger. Punishment should be exactly that, no TV's or radios in cells, no physical contact with visitors, no socialisation to allow them to learn from each other, lets get the chain gangs on the road and make them realise that prison isn't a cushy number. If we have run out of prison spaces, build some more prisons. If I ever catch him, I'll plant some chalk in his pocket and tell the cops he's been drawing on the pavement or tell them he's not paid his council tax - he'll definitely get locked up then!!!
