DECENT law-abiding people in Peterborough will doubtless feel like cheering at the news that more crooks and drug dealers have been made to stump up £300,000 from their ill-gotten gains.
Let's face it, these people are motivated by greed.
They don't care who gets hurt, or who gets hooked on some filthy substance, while they rake in big money.
Hitting them where it hurts means raiding their bank accounts.
It may not persuad
e criminals to go straight, but at least stripping them of assets paid for with dirty money will stop them coming out of jail to enjoy a life of luxury.
It's particularly good to see drugs dealers having to pay up, because they benefit from the misery they spread.
They grow fatter ,while those addicted to the nasty stuff they peddle often end up losing everything. Even their lives in some cases.
Just how low these people will stoop was shown by Avonelle McKella, who used a child to hide cocaine and heroin she was carrying on a bike.
Another woman, Joanne Symonds, lived in a modest house in Welland, but police found drugs with a street value of £60,000 stuffed in kitchen drawers and even in her freezer.
Hopefully, they won't be laughing all the way to the bank now.
Stamford shows its pride on streetsWE are sure the members of No 3 Squadron RAF Regiment were delighted to see so many people turn out in Stamford to welcome them home. It's right that they know we are proud of them.
