THE artists' impressions of the proposed £480m North Westgate development paint a pretty impressive picture of the future Peterborough.
A glass roofed shopping street with cafes and restaurants and new retail outlets.
But as yet that is all they are – pretty pictures.
The people of this city have heard over and over again how Peterborough is to benefit from a billion pounds of investment and redevelopment.
Currently there are no visible signs to speak of – just proposals.
Developers insist submitting new plans at this stage - having taken onboard responses from public consultation – is not a backward step and their vision for the area will be delivered on time.
It is to be hoped it will – there have been far too many false dawns which have done nothing but dent confidence of residents.
