JUST what does it have to take before some people realise that inconsiderate parking of their cars is putting lives at risk.
Does someone in Peterborough really have to suffer serious injury – or die – before motorists who care little about who they inconvenience suddenly take responsibility for their actions?

Hopefully not.

Over and over again, firefighters are forc
ed to make a plea to the public to keep roads clear so their engines can get through to fight fires.

Sadly it seems their pleas have been in vain – despite a leafleting campaign in one part of the city.

Fortunately, the incidents they have been trying to reach when their path has been blocked have been minor – but the owners of the cars were not to know that.

Next time could be an emergency and a motorist who has given little or no thought to how they have left their vehicle could have a death on their conscience.

Right to take him off the streets

LEE Norwell is a thug and a danger to the public. Those are the thoughts of a judge who yesterday jailed him indefinitely for a cowardly and callous attack on a nightclub doorman.

Before he is released the former soldier must demonstrate to the authorities that he no longer poses a threat.

For that the people of Peterborough can be grateful.
