PETERBOROUGH Ladies' fairytale run in the Women's FA Cup continues and after a 4-1 win over West Lynn in the final qualifying round, the club have drawn Stoke City away in the first round proper.
Two brilliant individual goals by Lisa White, followed by strikes from Donna Nicholls and Clare Knibbs ensured a thrilling 4-1 extra-time win.

Peterborough dominated the tie and took a 20 minute lead when White scored directly from a corner and co
ntinued their pressure throughout the first half but despite clear chances failed to connect again.

After the break, a costly defensive mix-up led to Lynn's equaliser and Peterborough keeper Lou Nicholls was forced to make two quality saves to keep her side in the game.

Fearing penalties would once again settle the game, Peterborough took a 2-1 win almost immediatley from the start of extra-time when a three player move resulted in White hitting a 30 yard screamer.

Again Peterborough pressed forward and scored through Knibbs who picked up a rebound from a Donna Nicholls shot.

Once again White was in the thick of the action and an individual run which saw her beat six players resulted in a shot that was initially saved by the Lynn keeper and Nicholls picked up the rebound.

Manager Maria Rudd said: "This was the third goal Lisa has scored directly from a corner so she has become the team's secret weapon at set pieces.

"We didn't play very well in the second half but our desire to compete shone through in the end."

Stoke play in the West Mids Premier and are currently unbeaten. The game is on November 9 (1.30pm).

ZOE Watkins and Amelia Webster each created their very own 'Famous Five' as Diamonds Ladies destroyed Downham Town to continue their 100 per cent start to life in senior football.

Downham arrived at Chestnut Avenue with only 10 players for this Fenland League showdown and they were rapidly put to the sword as Diamonds dished out a 14-0 drubbing.

The alarm bells should have been ringing from the moment Ceri Lovesey shot Diamonds ahead with a speculative 45-yard drive that bounced straight over the Downham keeper.

Watkins and Webster went on to strike five times apiece with Dani Croucher, Beth Login and Joyce Worth also finding the net.

Manager Richard Evans said: "The whole squad showed a great understanding of how to play this game correctly."

But life is set to get tougher for the Diamonds who have a crunch top-of-the-table clash against Holbeach this weekend.

Diamonds: H. Arnold, C. Lovesey, S. Garwell, S. Slann, T. Salter, J. Worth, B. Login, A. Webster, D. Croucher, Z. Watkins, E. Stebbing, B. Lelliot, F. Howe, C. Watts.

WHITTLESEY needed a wake-up call before claiming another Fenland Division One success.

Andy Powell's side fell behind to Hungate after only six minutes, but they roared back to bag a 4-1 win with goals by Sophie Powell, Annie Posnett (2) and Jaz Sheppard.

Whittlesey: Emma Johnson, Stacie Boon, Charley Ireland, Sophie Powell, Sofia Green, TJ Reade , Alyx Miller, Georgia Alegre, Charlie Hawkins, Annie Posnett, Jaz Sheppard.
