Evans led the way with an awesome foursome as the city side bashed Oadby Ladies 8-3 in their latest East Midlands Premier Division outing.

Chanade Henderson broke the deadlock before Evans crashed in a hat-trick. Jade Ovendale converted a penalty and Lorna Gallagher also netted as Azure opened up a 6-1 interval lead. Evans and Henderson both struck again in the second period.

Azure host Loughborough at Greenfields, Sawtry on Sunday (2pm kick-off).



A BULLET header by Carley Tickner ensured Peterborough Ladies made Womens FA Cup progress.

Tickner's first-half effort from a Stacey Gross corner was enough to topple Hethersett Athletic in the first qualifying round.

Peterborough now face Eastern Regional Premier Division side Woodbridge Town in the second qualifying round next weekend.



PETERBOROUGH Diamonds' senior side completed a hat-trick of early season successes – but it proved to be a painful day at the office.

Manager Richard Evans led his side to a 4-1 Fenland League success over Wisbech St Mary, but was left far from impressed by their opponents' approach.

Evans said: "We stood up to their physical approach and showed what it is like to play beautiful football – and we will continue to do that."

"Joyce Worth can thank her lucky stars that she is a woman because judging by the stud marks on her inner thigh, had she been a man we could have been out on the pitch looking for body parts!"

Amelia Webster's opener for Diamonds was quickly cancelled out, but the city side took control in the second period.

Harriet Ford finished a flowing move soon after the restart before Emma Stebbing claimed a late brace.

A GOAL in each half helped Whittlesey Under 12s take maximum points from their latest Fenland League outing.

Charlie Hawkins broke the deadlock against Chatteris and Sophie Powell sealed a 2-0 success 10 minutes from time.

TWO out of two is not bad for Diamonds Under 12s. The city girls claimed a second Cambs Girls League success in a row when seeing off St Ives 2-1.

Jessica Driscoll broke the deadlock only for St Ives to level just before the break with a rebound after Diamonds keeper Georgia Clarke had made a cracking save.

Prolific Diamonds ace Elizabeth Steele carved a winning goal out of nothing.
